#parkhopping - Day 12 and Wrap-Up / by Mark

Reporting from Casa de Schmidbauer

It's our last push to home, and due to the winter storm that just passed thru, we made as few stops as possible.  In 24 hours, we went from the mid-70s to single digits.

Fortunately, the storm had indeed mostly blown thru the previous night, and things were mostly dry on the roads until we hit Ohio, with only a few snow squalls to contend with.  In the Buckeye state, US 23 had one lane clear, with the other in various states up to Columbus.  All in all, our timing was good.

We stopped at a Skyline Chili on the south side before heading home, since there wasn't a lot (other than snacks) once we arrived.

A few final thoughts:

  • Disney has definitely grown since the last time I saw it in the 90s.  It's truly a city now.

  • Universal is fun, but it's no Disney.  Lack of consistent theming, plus the randomness of the IP, puts them in the second slot.

  • Many, many thanks to Bill and Jim for getting us in the parks.  It allowed us to avoid a second mortgage.

  • Never try to keep 7 people together at a theme park, all with different desires.  It's like herding cats.

  • Traffic is crazy in Orlando.  Bill told me that, when he goes to his office each day, he’s never sure if he will arrive 30 minutes early or 45 minutes late.

  • AirBnB’s seem to favor form over function.

I'll be back with a daily blog in February for Winter QISE.
