It was time to bid Florida goodbye, and begin the hike North. But we didn't get too far before the gals found a farmers market in Winter Park. Coffee, hot chocolate, and empanadas were enjoyed.
Moving on to our second Bucees of the trip in Daytona Beach. Unlike most of them, this location was wedged in amongst a lot of retail, so it was a hassle to get in and out. We picked up brisket sammiches and some snacks before moving on.
We had hoped to see th “Fountain of Youth” in St. Augustine, but that turned out to be quite the tourist trap (when you see a Ripley's Believe it or Not, you know you're in trouble). We decided to move on, but we did find a statue of Ponce de Leon up Route 1A along the seashore.
As we left Florida, we stopped at a Citrus shack and saw baby Gators.
At this point, we made the call to minimize stops, as there is word of a Winter storm between us and home. So we powered through Georgia, South and most of North Carolina before stopping, with a quick drive thru at another Cook Out. We never ran into any bad weather today, and it looks like the storm will blow thru before morning. Finger crossed.
Tomorrow--wrapping it up.
